Democrat Party Collapse – What Will it Mean for Both Parties?

Amid the terror filled hype of impending civil war, WW3, climate doomsday, economic takeover by our new Chinese overlords, omnipresent racism that we can’t actually define, the Biblical level plague of C19 and, of course, the return of Trump, we hear the loudest screams of all coming from the ‘never let a good crisis go to waste’ Democrats as they face the ultimate end of the world – being voted out of power. Oh, the horror. Most of the over … Continue reading “Democrat Party Collapse – What Will it Mean for Both Parties?”

Nuclear Triad, NATO Expansion and Russian Security – or Lack Thereof

We already discussed the nuclear triad which is just an ominous way of saying that there are three flavors of nuclear warhead delivery: big ballistic missiles, nuclear armed submarines and nuclear armed bombers. All will spoil your lifetime. NATO expansion: unless you have been lost in the mountains for the last month, you’ve heard this term Either it’s a horrible evil plot by the nefarious West to reduce Russia’s border security or it’s an innocuous club that just accepted a … Continue reading “Nuclear Triad, NATO Expansion and Russian Security – or Lack Thereof”

Nuclear Triad 101

I am not a military expert and I don’t play one on TV. Politics on the nation-state scale are intricately tied to military function. Fish need water – both statements are blatantly obvious but to the point, you can’t analyze national or international politics without some basic – and I do mean basic – understanding of how the military fits into this. I’m writing a book on American politics that I almost didn’t write because it seems so incredibly obvious … Continue reading “Nuclear Triad 101”

Ukraine Versus Russia: What it Means to the US

Short answer: if Ukraine falls it will predicate a geopolitical realignment that the US will have very little say in. The reason: Biden. If Ukraine survives, there will still be a geopolitical realignment but to a lesser degree and US power will remain in play. Probably despite Biden. Conclusion: If you don’t like military conflicts with Russia, don’t vote Democrat for the next decade or so. Now, for those who prefer some meat on the bare bones, there is no … Continue reading “Ukraine Versus Russia: What it Means to the US”

Ukraine Invasion – Initial Assessment

Originally written 2/25/22 I admit, I didn’t expect Russia to go in after leaving their troops in plain sight for weeks. In my very non-expert military opinion that was stupid – and I thought the Russians were a bit brighter than that. What I think happened is Russia saw a chance at low hanging fruit and went for it. A weak US president with an already horrendous foreign policy track record coupled with weeks of no real significant response out … Continue reading “Ukraine Invasion – Initial Assessment”

The State of the Union – Snooze Fest 2022

Let’s be perfectly fair – the State of the Union is ALWAYS a snooze fest. It’s the nature of the beast. But given the Freedom Convoy and that little war in Ukraine, maybe it shouldn’t be. Be that as it may, the state of the Union gives a president time in the bully pulpit – a chance to speak directly to the American people and try to convince them. Often, it becomes a rally for the president’s base – easy … Continue reading “The State of the Union – Snooze Fest 2022”

Canadian Politics – Don’t Watch if you get Motion Sickness!

Another day, another policy swing. For reasons that aren’t really apparent Trudeau rescinded the Emergency Act Declaration before the Senate could vote on it. Hint: it’s not a show of compassion or strength. Was the Senate likely to block it? Maybe but that seems unlikely as Trudeau himself appointed most of the 107 Senators currently in the Canadian Senate. He may have just caved to the tremendous public pressure – you’d think he’d have done that three weeks ago but … Continue reading “Canadian Politics – Don’t Watch if you get Motion Sickness!”

Canada Betrayed

There’s no one who actually believes that the Canadian Trucker’s convoy was anything other than a peaceful protest – no one sane, at least. And yet, with the borders already cleared of protestors, the Canadian House of Commons voted along party lines to grant ’emergency’ powers to their executive – powers to include the ability to freeze bank accounts without court order. Because peaceful protests are annoying, eh? There is a Canadian Senate which is controlled by the same party … Continue reading “Canada Betrayed”

Well, I Got That One Wrong

If you believe anyone that comes in size human bats a thousand, I have some ocean front property in Tennessee I want to sell you cheap. But knowing that doesn’t make the crow taste any better. Pass the hot sauce – I was wrong. I’ve never seen a nomination for the Supreme Court occur before the justice steps down. Nothing in the Constitution prohibits it to my knowledge – it just didn’t occur to me that Breyer’s replacement could be … Continue reading “Well, I Got That One Wrong”
