The short answer is yes – he’s hoping (or his handlers are) that we’ll be distracted by the panicdemic and the new unconstitutional and unenforceable mandates. With any luck at all, no one will notice that we still have people in Afghanistan or that the fallout from the disastrous withdrawal is still raining down.
“See the squirrel! Watch the squirrel! Don’t impeach me…”
My analysis is that Biden is not in control – either of the country or himself. Those aren’t mutually exclusive and frankly, they probably change as his condition does. Regardless, the smart political move was and is resignation. Instead, he’s clinging to the office. That is a combination of hubris and being completely unaware of just how bad his political position is.
From Biden’s POV Harris is proving to be an excellent selection. She is less popular than he is so no one wants her as president. Big bonus is she isn’t politically acute enough to get his cabinet on her side. Frankly, that seems a bit of incompetency on her part – or maybe Biden did a better job selecting his cabinet than he’s done on literally anything else. Regardless, she’s not a threat to him at the moment.
Pelosi is just praying Newsome survives today’s recall – the last thing the Democrats need is more egg on their faces.
Two huge threats still loom – Afghanistan and a total lack of real wins. The disaster in Afghanistan is all Biden’s – his only hope is that the American people forget about it, preferably in the next week or two. Nothing of note has gotten through Congress – both houses of which are ostensibly held by Biden’s party. No, it’s not normal to not pass any signature legislation in nearly nine months – Obama isn’t even a major exception here – even with the slim majorities Biden has.
The panicdemic is winding down. It plays well to his base but poorly to an increasing number of people who are beginning to question the ever moving goalposts. The ridiculous attempt at mandating vaccination – none of the regulation of which is even available yet – is just ticking off a huge number of people. Only those who really don’t get what vaccines are supposed to do are buying into the need to mandate them – and even those folks are beginning to question how the heck OSHA can have that kind of power and why so many purported loopholes? Instead of distracting people from Biden’s ineptitude, these measures are focusing everyone’s attention on that ineptitude – with some jaw dropping results.
I’m pretty sure that there weren’t a lot of little church ladies in the crowds this past weekend chanting something obscene about Biden. You know how to use a search engine if you’re curious (I recommend Duckduckgo) – I won’t be repeating it here and don’t particularly approve. I’m a prude and proud of it.
Be that as it may, tens of thousands of people – more than showed up at all Biden’s campaign efforts combined, made their feelings about the present occupant of 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue perfectly clear. These were at college football games across the country – that should be part of Biden’s base. Granted, not so much the avid sports fans but college students tend to be much further left. A few irate shouts are one thing; prolonged unison chanting of huge groups is quite another. That’s a very, very bad sign for Democrats.
Which leaves the Democrats in a hysterical stew of their own making. A Capitol police officer gunning down an unarmed woman is a far cry from terrorists ramming planes into occupied towers and killing in total* 2996 people – and most Americans seem well aware of that fact. Calling everything and everyone ‘racist’ has taken much of the meaning of the term away and few people are listening to the accusations anymore. Afghanistan was no doubt intended to be a ‘big win’ and is instead a gigantic mess – the distractions aren’t working so well, Joe.
Round Two of Election Fraud Incorporated is probably going to start later tonight no matter what happens in the recall. Republicans are reporting being turned away for having previously voted; there were holes in the absentee envelops that made it possible to determine the vote inside and ballots where they had no business being. Nothing to see here folks – just lawsuits and accusations that are about to fly.
And more and more questions coming from not just the evil ‘them’ but all the True Believers.(TM)
Can Joe hang in there until 2022? I doubt it – the wacko part of his base wants him to do ‘more’ and the sane part wants him gone. There’s no winning strategy that keeps him in office. It’s now just a matter of time before he screws up something else and either Harris invokes the 25th or the few Democrats hoping to win in 2022 side with Republicans to impeach.
Seriously Joe, resign. No one needs this much grief.
