9 – 0 ! The Constitution WINS!

The United States Supreme Court just handed down a rare unanimous and per curiam decision in the Colorado case attempting to remove Donald Trump from the ballot in which the Court reversed the Colorado Supreme Court. Fancy words for the Supreme Court smacked the Colorado Supreme Court hard. Not only will Trump be on the ballot, the Court in no uncertain terms told Colorado and the rest of the States that they do NOT have the power to determine who … Continue reading “9 – 0 ! Tax Returns and Presidents

The United States Supreme Court stayed a lower court ruling. Happens all the time. This particular stay will keep Congress’ greedy mitts off of Trump’s tax returns for at least another ten days. Yay – why do we care? Well, first off, the premise for Congress’ subpoena keeps changing. At present, the idea is that Congress needs the returns to sort out how to handle presidential tax returns in the future. trouble is, they aren’t asking for any returns but … Continue reading “Tax Returns and Presidents”

Nine Guys in Black Robes

In 1973, seven of the nine justices of the United States Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Warren Burger decided that an unborn baby wasn’t a person and that the Constitution of the United States did not fully protect that child until after birth. In 2022, six of nine justices of the United States Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice John Roberts decided that the Constitution didn’t give the Federal government the power to decide such matters and gave that … Continue reading “Nine Guys in Black Robes”

The Left After Wokeness

Sigh, unfortunately, it’s not likely to go peacefully into that good night. Or even just get off the stage. The inmates are running the asylum on the left and the Republican leadership has let them take this country along for the ride. That is about to come to a screeching halt as there won’t be another chance to interfere in the elections like in 2020. The midterms are promising to be a bloodbath for the Democrats. They have already seriously … Continue reading “The Left After Wokeness”

The Bloody Flag

As of today, May 5th, 2022, it is not certain that the Supreme Court will in fact overturn Roe V Wade. That said, the released draft creates pressure on the Court. Activists will try to pressure the Court into reversing course and leaving Roe intact. But the surge of conservativism and populism in the US and even the world creates a pressure of its own for the Court to follow through with its apparent intentions and overturn Roe. Roe is … Continue reading “The Bloody Flag”

Well, I Got That One Wrong

If you believe anyone that comes in size human bats a thousand, I have some ocean front property in Tennessee I want to sell you cheap. But knowing that doesn’t make the crow taste any better. Pass the hot sauce – I was wrong. I’ve never seen a nomination for the Supreme Court occur before the justice steps down. Nothing in the Constitution prohibits it to my knowledge – it just didn’t occur to me that Breyer’s replacement could be … Continue reading “Well, I Got That One Wrong”

The First Black Woman on the United States Supreme Court

Which one will it be? Okay it’s kind of a trick question – Justice Breyer’s retirement isn’t until October. The nomination fight could be as early as October which would probably be next to impossible to get Senate approval since Manchin would like a fighting chance in November. A fight after the midterms but before the new Congress (November – January) would be the best chance the Democrats have of getting a nominee through – except that the Republicans will … Continue reading “The First Black Woman on the United States Supreme Court”
